IEM Basketball League Rep1, Rep2 & All-Star Programs

The IEM Basketball League Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star Programs are geared for girls and boys who are interested in playing competitive basketball. The program helps players to maximize their skills through additional practices and games against other competitive basketball teams from across the province.

Every year, in August and September, tryouts are held for each of the Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star teams. IEM Basketball League develops players through the house league program and works with local school organizations to assist in the development of players.

Please contact Ion Marghetis for more information at 905-836-6195 if you would like to participate as a player or as a coach. IEM Basketball League is always looking for qualified coaches to assist with the Programs.

WHAT IS THE PLAYER'S COMMITMENT?
Players must commit to attend all practices, games and tournaments with a positive attitude. Players are representing the IEM Basketball League and must at all times abide by "The Code of Fair Play for Players".

  1. I will do my best to be a true team player and work for the good of the team.
  2. I will remember that winning isn't everything and that having fun with friends and improving my skills are also important.
  3. I will play fairly and obey the rules of the game.
  4. I will respect the officials by accepting all of their decisions.
  5. I will work at achieving my personal best and not get discouraged.
  6. I will learn to recognize and give credit for the effort and ability of other players, team mates or opponents.
  7. I will treat fellow players, coaches and opponents with respect.
  8. I will enjoy each game I play - win, lose or draw.

WHAT IS THE PARENTS' COMMITMENT?
Parents must commit to getting players to practices, games and tournaments by providing transportation. Parents are representing the IEM Basketball League and must at all times be on their best behavior, and provide positive support to all players on the team.

HOW MANY PLAYERS ON EACH ALL-STARS BASKETBALL TEAM?
IEM Basketball League will choose 10 players for each team, although a coach may choose an additional 2 players as substitutes. In order to develop strong All-Stars teams coaches are encouraged to select younger age level players if they have good skills.

HOW DOES THE REP1, REP2 AND ALL-STAR PROGRAMS DIFFER FROM HOUSE LEAGUE BASKETBALL?
"Rep1 and Rep2 BASKETBALL" demands more time of a player, and as a result, the parents' time. The game is much faster and much more physically demanding. During the regular season, all players play equal time regardless of their ability. The IEM Basketball League philosophy is that all players should be guided and given the opportunity to realize their full potential. Therefore, weaker players will only improve if they get equal playing time. "All-Star BASKETBALL" demands less time of a player, and introduces players to "Rep1 and Rep2 BASKETBALL".

COST OF THE PROGRAM
The cost per player is $325.00. (This includes fees for gym, games, tournaments, referees, OBA fees, insurance, equipment and etc.)
