Junior Boys
Congratulations to the IEM Aurora Junior Boys team who won the Gold Medal at the Hamilton Wildcats Tournament on May 11-13. IEM finished pool play in first place beating Cambridge Centaurs, losing to Guelph Phoenix and beating host Hamilton Wildcats. In the semi-final IEM took down their IEM Newmarket counterparts and then beat the Hamilton Wildcats in the final.

Congratulations on winning GOLD at the OBA Provincial Championships this past weekend with wins against the Scarborough Blues 58-49, MUMBA 38-20, Timmins Selects 38-36, Valhalla Youth 42-38, and the championship game against the Sudbury Jam 50-41.

Congratulations on winning GOLD at the Orillia Lakers Tournament this past weekend with wins against the Huntsville Hurricanes 52-23, Orangeville Hawks 64-24, Orillia Lakers 49-31, and the championship game against the Lindsay Wildcats 61-37.

What kind of organization is IEM Basketball League?
IEM Basketball is a non-profit organization.

How can your registration fees be so low when compared to other organizations?
There is a Government Subsidy given to all Not-for-Profit organizations of approximately 75% off the school permits. IEM takes these funds and reduces the registration fees accordingly.

What does my registration fee include for the House League program?
Each of our programs are different but basically the fee will cover all expenses for the gym, referees, uniforms, trophies and medals.

Will I be asked to pay more money?
If your son or daughter is in House League, then you will NOT be required to pay more money. If yor son or daughter makes a Rep1, Rep2 or All-Star team, then there will be additional costs for hotels and meals when the team travels, as well as any IEM apparel purchased by your son or daughter.

How can I register my child for a program?
Download a registration from from our website. Complete the registration form and mail-in with your payment attached.

Why do I need to supply an e-mail address?
We have found that e-mail is the quickest, most efficient way to contact the parents, players, coaches and members of IEM Basketball.

When will I be contacted by the league?
You will be contacted by your coach two weeks prior to the scheduled start of the season. You may also click on the various team names on the "HOME" page to find out who are your teammates for the upcoming season.

Can I make requests for my son/daughter and their friend to play together?
Provided that it doesn't make any team too strong, we will allow players to play together on a case-by-case basis.

Can my son/daughter play both Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star and in House League?
Yes, players may participate and play on multiple teams. It is recommended that Rep1 & Rep2 players play 1-division higher in House League.

When does the season start?
Historically the House League programs begin on the third week in September. Try-outs for Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star programs are scheduled in early September and will be posted on our website.

What is the maximum players on each House League team?
To provide equal playing time with a minimum of 50% court time, the maximum players per team is 10.

What days of the week does House League take place on?
House League practices and games are either on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday.

What days of the week does Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star take place on?
All Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star practices and games are primarily on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday.

How do players try-out for Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star teams?
You may verify the date, time and location of all try-outs under "REP1,REP2/ALL-STAR" in "SCHEDULES". You may contact the coach of the team by e-mail and/or telephone by searching under "COACHES". Otherwise, you may contact Elena Marghetis at 905-836-6195 for any additional information.

Where will my child be playing?
Schedules will be provided to you by your coach and are also available on our website. We primarily utilize gyms in Newmarket and Aurora. Gyms in Bradford and Keswick are also utilized for our Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star teams.

Is there any fee required for players to pay to try-out for Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star teams?
The IEM Basketball League does NOT charge any fee for players wishing to try-out for any Rep1, Rep2 and All-Star team.

Are the coaches qualified?
Many of our coaches have been coaching for many years and also have a variety of different coaching level certificates. IEM Basketball provides clinics given by our Head Coach for new coaches as well as for our seasoned volunteers.

Do the coaches have police checks?
As members of Ontario Basketball coaches have police checks as well as some of our volunteers and staff that are part of IEM Basketball.

Are there any other volunteer positions other than coaching?
Scorekeeper, Convenor, Statistician, Team Manager, Referee, just to name a few.

How do I become a volunteer?
There are several ways to volunteer. When you are registering your child there is a section on the registration form. You can also contact the league via e-mail at info@iembasketball.com or simply call the office.

How can we get our son/daughter to become a referee?
There is a training program offered during the summer months to everyone wishing to become a referee. The program has proven to be very successful with IEM referees eventually becoming carded YRABO officials. These kids that help us out as referees are invaluable to our success.
